Only one piece of the puzzle left.

I have a problem with 19 down. I believe the definition is "vertigo" and that the answer is "Megrim".

One half of the solution comes from the preceding clue and the other half from the following clue. All I can get is:

A) Our man in Europe holding back Soviet aircraft (Megimp)

B) Plates setter in close atmosphere (fullMeg)

Both aprts seem to lead to Meg, where does Rim come from? Is it a mistake? Anyone any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I seem to recall this puzzle from several months ago and the answer was definitely MEGRIM (Vertigo). I have forgotten the rationale but i'll look back in my files and come back if I've anything. Your answer is right though!
