At the beginning of the song "Hanging on the Telephone", there is a phone sound. Why did they choose a UK phone sound rather than their native American phone sound?
Parallel Lines was produced by Mike Chapman who, although Australian, was based in England.
I dont know if was recorded in the UK but it could have been mixed here and Mike Chapman could have stuck the phone on in a British studio.
Also at the time Blondie were bigger in the UK than in there homeland. So it may have been a ploy to sell more copies by making it more familiar to British fans.
