The oboe

To anyone who plays, I was just wondering:
1) Is it hard to learn to play the oboe? I can play other woodwind instruments if that will help in any way.
2) Where is the best place to get one from or enquire about one, preferrably in London.

Probably not too helpful an answer but I too wanted to learn to play the oboe at one time and was 'warned' that the most difficult part is getting used to the reed. Apparently it takes several years to master playing this instrument.
