MM was the weaker seller, so the powers-that-be closed it and 'merged it with NME, wereupon it was quietly forgotten.
I think The Word takes some beating, although I still buy NME, Kerrang!, Q and others for research - I'm a part-time music journalist. I used to write for MM in the 1980's.
