I read online that Sandi Thom is just a manufactured 'kooky' girl with a massive record deal. Is this true and also, does that really matter if the song rocks?!?

It doesn't matter at all. Get your music to the people any way you can. Good luck to her.

I think the record is awful!! (Sorry)

there's rumours it's true
that doesn't matter - who really cares
can't stand the song though

The Monkees were "manufactured", but that didn't stop them from doing some of my favourite ever songs.

But I don't like "Punk Rocker" either...though a lot of people seem to.

I heard that is is a marketing scam again like the Arctic Monkeys was. For a start she broadcast to over 70,000 people from her Basement, i think she would need some specialist equipment for that? Also i find it very hard to beleive that she conjured up that many people as well?

I may be wrong but i am very sceptical plus the record isnt even that good in my humble opinion! Ive heard another track about Horsepower too which is even worse!!

Well, the story I've heard is that she had 70,000 hits on her myspace profile, and record companies couldn't resist but to sign her up. Personally I don't see how she did it, the song isn't that great. But at the same time, there's no denying that myspace is one of the best things to happen to music for a long time. It breaks a lot of the barriers for a band trying to get a record deal.
