the song "morningtown ride" was written by malvina reynolds in 1957, and subsequently recorded by the limelighters in 1962, the seekers in 1966, irish rovers in 1972, sesame street in 1973, raffi in 1980 and jheena lodwick in 2004. for me the definitive version was by the seekers (but you might not agree!)
