Futurama. To be or not to be?
5 Answers
There are various rumours circluating around the internet as to "at least 13 new episodes" are going to be produced and will be shown in 2008 by Comedy Central. I found the information by chance on some fan sites:
http://www.peelified.com/cgi-bin/Futurama/1-00 4862-1/
I didn't think that this sounded right because it has taken so long for this to happen since the cancelling of the show in 2003 by Fox.
I decided to find out by going to comedy central's press realease page ( http://www.comedycentral.com/press ) and I couldn't find a release for the date quoted on the fan sites and even on Wikipedia.
So my question is this? Is this real? Why hasn't there been an official statement by comedy central to the public even to deny (or confirm) the rumours? Is this all just a PR stunt?

Family Guy was cancelled but proved a success when it came to DVD and so was resurrected. The thinking with Futurama is the same.
I believe the deal includes screening the original 4 seasons plus funding new episodes. Although, if I remember the article corectly, none of this will happen until 2008.
As always, it' comes down to money.
