Rainbow - Who sang 'Bye Bye Baby Goodbye'?

Richie Blackmore's Rainbow is accredited with the song 'Bye Bye Baby Goodbye', but who is the female singer who performs the song? I've searched the net now for days on the subject without any success. Does anyone out there know the answer? It's a very simple love song but it certainly hits the spot!

Are you sure that's the actual title of the song? I've had a look on the allmusic.com website under Ritchie Blackmore and Rainbow and can't find a song with that title listed anywhere.

Try the following seach words on google.com:

'bye bye baby goodbye rainbow'

The lyrics for the song by Rainbow will show as Nr. 1 on the listings.
I have a copy of the song myself with Richie Blackmore on lead guitar.

For others; please don't confuse this Rainbow song with these other similar titles/singers:
Frankie Vallie / Four Seasons
Bay City Rollers
Madonna

Have you been to the Gracenote site - and typed Bye bye baby goodbye and ticked exact match and then scrolled down - there seems to be a number of other possible artists there?

Yes, you are definitely correct with that one.
It's a cover version by a Norwegian band.
Found it on LimeWire.

Still checking on this original version, with the female singer.

Gracenote have a few errors on the 'Rainbow' links.

One is for a 'Norwegian Dance Band' that links to Richie Blackmore's Rainbow.

'Various Artists / Norges St�rste Danseband' (Rainbow)

Now I can understand why I've had problems finding out the name of the original female artist.

Looks like the situation is cleared up now.

Have no idea where the original music & lyrics came from, but it seems that all of the links on the net to Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow are incorrect.

Here are the two alternative's for the female singer on the 'Rainbow' Bye Bye Baby, Goodbye:

1). Bente Boe - Cross the River (Album)
2). Vibeke & Jan Erik Fillan - Rainbow

Both have a version of the song. Both are from Norway.

So you're probably right (Machecoul) if Bente Boe's voice is similar to 'Karin Dreijer Andersson's' who sang 'What Else is There' with R�yksopp, then she's the culprit.

Thanks once again to all who helped out with their comments. This was a bit of a frustrating one, what with all the 'Rainbow' links etc.

I'm still not completely satisfied, but what the heck!

I managed to chase up the following:

Song written by: (Finn/Wickstr�m/Evenrude) Bye bye baby, goodbye.

Rainbow (Norway) is: LARS KRISTOFFERSEN & OLE PETTER BJ�RLING

Loads of Norwegian female artists & male Dance Bands love the song because; it's a weepy love song and goes down well with the punters towards the end of the night when everyone's getting nervous about who's going home with who!

Just goes to show; you can't always trust the net for accurate info!

Sent an email to Gracenote about the mix-up with their links as well.

Sorry for mentioning Ritchie Blackmore and sorry for the inconvenience on this one.
