Jedediah? Jones

Many years ago, on Radio 2's Wally Whyton's country Club I heard a song with the title Jedediah/Jebediah jones. I think it was by an artist called Paul Jones. The song starts 'His name was Jedediah Jones, a hundred pounds of skin and bone' or similar and the chorus was something like ' and its 12 years hard labour, day after day, every time the sun goes down a little life slips away'. The theme of the song was a lecherous preacher who killed Jedediah's wife when she rejected him and the preacher said he saw Jedediah running away. The song ends with Jedediah dying in prison and taking revenge from beyond the grave by making the preacher sign a confession. If anybody can help with the title and artist I would be most grateful. If you could show me where I might get a copy of the song, I will have your children! (no mean feat, me being a man!).

Was it not Jeremiah by John Paul Jones? i think the artist is John Paul Jones anyway

I am not certain but this could be a track by Paul Richey (also known as Paul Richy early in his career with Sun Studio).

His 1983 (Pinnacle Records) 7" single "The Devil Inside" has a track entitled "Jebediah Jones" as the B-side.

naz_nomad, it definately wasn't that Paul Jones. I think I made a mistake withe name, anyway.
Kempie, your info looks promising though I don�t want to buy until I am sure I have the right track. I am still looking into Paul Rich(e)y and his track of that title to see if I can find the lyric or a snippet to listen to for confirmation. Now you mention it, it probably was Paul Richy rather than Jones.
