I have read and watched a great deal of conflicting information surrounding the original Amityville story. I know Robert Defoe murdered his family and following on from that the Lutz family claim that house itself was extremley haunted causing them to flea from the house late one night, 30 days after they moved in. Can someone tell me if there really is infact any truth to their claims and also, some say Robert Defoe was possesed and others say it was a pre-meditated act done with the help of one of his sisters who he later killed also?

To whom ever answers the above, many thanks as I won't get a chance to read until Monday.
Apparently it was all a load of rubbish, and started from an idea given by the Lutzes solicitor. A money making scheme, which obviously worked well for them.

The next inhabitants of the house have changed it's appearance, and have never had any problems.
I also read that it was all made up.
Same here. violetblue: pippa68's posting appears to be just a dodgy press blurb, complete with the final invitation to 'BUY IT HERE!'... give the benefit of the doubt, but that's a bit close to the limits of Site Rules...
sorry pippa68 - I hadn't noticed that it was you being suitably sceptical in the previous posting...
No probs mike b.

The link I posted is just one of loads of websites regarding the 'tale'. There are plenty out there debunking the story, and as I have read most of them & read conflicting stories from the Lutzes I happen to agree it was all a load of twaddle..but excellently told and resulting in the desired effect ~ much money made & discussions about it ever since!
