From way back in the 70s what hits (or songs) did Lindisfarne become famous for performing.....apart from Meet me on the corner, and Run for home?

The fog on the Tyne (also unmemorably re-recorded with Paul Gascoigne. What were they thinking).
'Peter Brophy Don't Care'.. your nose is in your pipe but you don't care etc.. Q.V.g. [which see google] :-)
The biggies were the likes of Lady Eleanor from Nicely out of Tune (1970), and Meet Me On The Corner and Fog On The Tyne from Fog on the Tyne (1971). If you like these I can recommend both those LPs very strongly. They never quite reached those heights again, for one reason or another. They split up for a few years: Run for Home didn't arrive until 1978 but truthfully that original magic had faded. Alan Hull, principal songwriter and heart of the band, died in 1995; Lindisfarne are still around in one form or other and the live shows are great but the best songs are a generation and more in the past...
God, Meet me on the corner....I had forgot all about that song....I'll have to make a point and do that with the band tonight...what a great melody....Can you spare one dream for me?
they supported Bob Dylan and Santana at St James park way back in the early eighties, and were fantastic. Didn't know Alan Hull had died, still play the old songs on occasion but hadn't came up-to-date, surprised to hear they are still playing. sft42, have you done them 2night?
sft42 - or should that be Dreamseller? - glad to have tweaked your memory!
Did you know that Ray Jackson wrote and played the mandolin bit on Maggie May but was credited as a writer so he only got the performer's fee but missed out on any royalties?
Brawburd, I was at that concert at St James Park too. Lovely summer evening in about 1984. Santana & Lindisfarne were good but I was sorely disappointed with Dylan.
