Hot Gossip dance routine
15 Answers
Any avid viewers of The Kenny Everett Show out there? Or massive fans of Hot Gossip. I have a question regarding a routine they performed on the show in 1979, where they were in shower cubicles, throwing glitter over themselves and towelling off. I had an old tape with this clip but it's since been taped over and I'm desperate to find out what the song was they were dancing to! Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I've emailed Arlene Phillips (their choreographer and now and judge on Strictly Come Dancing) and Ms Phillips is obviously FAR too busy to reply, luvvie darling.... Thanks!

It was only a 10 second clip but the intro to the song was a really funky bassline, which leads me to believe it was a disco song as disco was very popular in 1979. I have quite an extensive knowledge of music and can usually recognise a song within the first few beats but this must have been a one-hit wonder as I've never heard it since.
I do know that Hot Gossip danced to top 40 hits in the Kenny Everett show, not obscure music.
As a last ditch attempt have a look at this site:

It lists every record of 1979 week by week. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and it will bring up the following week.
It might trigger bells. It's a good nostalgia trip anyway.
