I have really strong memories of a female performer, dressed up like a robot, glittery silver/blue wig on, moving and singing like a robot. It was a really cool song but I cannot remember any of it, I am pretty sure it was a one hit wonder, maybe for a film, it wasnt Blondie/Toyah or Martika, but it was along those lines....Help please, its hurting my brain!

Hazel O'Connor - "Eighth Day"?
If not, try Klaus Nomi (I know he's a bloke, but...?!)
Was it "Automatic Lover" by Dee D Jackson (video available on youtube)
it's cheesy, but how about "sarah brightman and hot gossip" "i lost my heart to a starship trooper".
they dressed in silver, did daft robotic movements and robotic hairstyles, like a 70's dr who villain.

hazel o'connor looked more robotic on "eigth day" because her costume was a neon glowing printed circut board illuminated by sweeping lazer lights. bit like a jean michel arre concert. i'd go with that one.
