I'm after the name of a piano peice that has been used on a few TV programs as a 'background' peice. The only way I can describe it is that in the first few seconds it sounds like only a few notes are being played as a melody, then a few more notes are added until it builds up as though any random notes are being played but the tune really works. Later on, strings are added to make it a very haunting peice. Any ideas? Here's hoping.......

It could be the piano riff from Coldplay's recent single 'Clocks'. That's been used to death as background music.

Thanks Waterwolf, but it's not Clocks. I've only heard it recently so it is new. Not giving much to go I know.....
Sounds like the original score music from 'American Beauty'. I think it's by Thomas Newman.
Try Perpetuum Mobile by The Penguin Cafe Orchestra, it might be that.

Thanks all, but it's none of the above. Imagine a piano meoldy, no chords, of about 3 notes, playing over and over again, then another different piano melody of single nots plays over the first melody, then another meoldy plays over the first two! It sounds like a bit of a mess but it really works, and then strings come in later. It's driving me mad!
it could be yann tiersen's "comptine d'un autre apres midi" off the soundtrack to amelie?
I feel it could be 'Trouble' from the Coldplay album 'Parachutes'. It's used a lot. And a lot of TV editors, edit it to remove the singing part of the track. It's very haunting.

Thanks everyone, but sadly it's not any of the above. I think I'm destined not to get this one! Thanks again all.
