...Anyone fancy reccomending any 80's synthesizer tracks, preferably ones a bit off the beaten track. I've got most of the big and well-known ones, and I'm on the lookout for some hidden gems, if they exist! I've got this mad thing for the 80's synthesizer sound.
also if you can find the songs..revenge by the gents. and lucifers friend by a band called vision. brilliant eighties synth song but hard to get hold of now.
Gary Numan put out a live 45 "On Broadway" which came as a freebee with the "Telekon" album, which has a synth piece in it which is the best.
Billy Currie (Ultravox) played the main part of it (I think)
It is available on the CD version of "The Pleasure Principle"
Don't know if you can get it on iTunes or something, but it's well worth a go if you don't know it.
Anything with Georgio Moroder's name on it. The soundtrack to Midnight Express is ace.
Propaganda has been mentioned but what about ZTT era Art of Noise?
The Sign by the Human League is a gem.
Anything with Arthur Baker's name it will be good, i'm thinking Confusion by New Order or IOU by Freez (or Thieves Like Us by New order aswell)
Kraftwerk?
You can get a bit weirder by looking for bands like Cabaret Voltiare or Front 242 or even bands like Yello or Laibach.
Also look out for Wally Baradou
