Will they ever hit the heights of 'The Bends' or 'OK Computer' again? I have listened to their new album, and while they are starting back down the road towards guitars and away from experimental music, I don't think they will ever get near the genius of 'The Bends' ( IMHO ). ' Fake Plastic Trees' is quite possibly the best song ever!!
I suspect the real question you're asking here is "Are Radiohead ever going to make guitar-based music again?" And I suspect that the only person who really knows the answer to that question is Thom Yorke. But if you want my opinion: given their track record, it's highly unlikely.
Although I'm not a fan, I admire Radiohead for plouhing their own musical furrow and ignoring the easy option, both commercial and critical, to make more of the same. As Waterwolf says, it looks unlikely that they will go over old ground, but you obviously have two albums that you enjoy immensely - some bands don't manage one!
No, I doubt it, although I like the latest album, so maybe that's not such a bad thing. I think "Just" is probably the most-straightforward (ie:guitars) track they've made, and I would like to see new stuff like that, but I doubt it. It would be a bit of a cop-out to go back to guitar based music, I think. After "Amnesiac" and all............
According to Teletext music news today, Thom Yorke said in a recent interview that Radiohead will probably head in the direction of 'making loud music with computers' next. And they might even stop making albums to concentrate on EPs where they can develop single ideas. Sounds like the 'Head of yore will stay a distant memory for the time being, then.
Apparently Radiohead make albums in trilogies, so the next one will be different to both the Pablo Honey > OK Computer era and the Kid A > Hail To The Thief era.
They might not make another rock album ever, then.
