The original of this song was called 'Sepheryn' and was recorded by an act called 'Curtiss Maldoon'.

Does anyone know whether this is available anywhere?

sp, this isn't very helpful at all, but here goes: I was quite curious about this myself a couple of years ago, and managed to locate a compilation album with said track on on the web...but never got round to getting it as I thought it may well be rubbish! So, in a nutshell, a CD does exist somewhere, but I've no idea what it's like. I'd be intrigued to know as I love "Ray Of Light".
I heard it on the radio soon after Madonnas version came out. It is much slower & has a 'folky' thing going on.

I haven't searched for it as I wasn't that keen..
you can hear a streamed clip of sepheryn at http://www.purplerecords.net/sepheryn/sepheryn .htm

Thank you everyone...the search continues!

I might have to start trawling the second hand shops...because whilst there is software that allows you to rip streamed music, I think I've heard that one from Purple Records before and it's only a 30 clip.

Many thanks though!
