Why is the Smetana piece about the Vltana river in Czech Republic called "the Mauldau"?

The same river is known by many names throughout Europe as a consequence of the plethora of languages which exist.

In Czech it is called Vltava
In Hungarian - Moldva
In German - Moldau
and variously in English and others as Moldor and Mauldau.
