80's singer from Lincolnshire

Hi folks
There was a dark haired female singer on the telly in the 80's (possible early 90's), and everytime she was on TV my mother said she came from Lincolnshire. I've tried looking her up just now [thought it might have been Lisa Stansfield or the singer from Swing Out Sister] but to no avail. Who was she? Or was mother just confused?

Can't be Lisa Stansfield as she's a Rochdale lass, and apparently the singer from Swing Out Sister's from Nottingham. Sorry, clueless on this one!

I've found a reference to a singer called Carmel from Lincolnshire who had some minor hits - Bad Day No 15 in 1983 & More More More no 24 in 1984. Could she be the one?

Although born in Scunthorpe Carmel is from Manchester...and she is blonde.

After much effort ive come to the conclusion that no one and no thing of any significance ever came from Lincolnshire i'm afraid.

From what I've read here I think mother was confused, as no singer (that era and that "look") has originated from there. Yes I agree with you on your statement, that nothing of any signifiicance has come from there-except me that is-AND it's soooo boring I couldn't wait to leave! I've never looked back : )

No offence to the Lincolnsire "Yellow Bellies" mind.
