Why haven't these albums ever been released on CD? Does someone other than the Henson Corporation own the rights to some sketches or something?

It might be more simple than that: there just isn't enough of a demand for that music nowadays to make it worth the expense of putting it out on CD format and trying to find a large enough audience to buy it. Innumerable LPs/records have never made it onto CD. Along those lines, some movies that were issued in VHS format in the '80s and '90s were not-- and never will be-- issued on DVD, because those movies did not prove to be popular enough then, or are not gaining in popularity with the passage of time, and thus are not in high demand today. It's just a "matter of business," please don't take it too personally.
