string or purcussion?

please can anyone settle an argument? Is a piano a string or purcussion instrument?

Although it obviously uses strings, it is a percussion instrument (it also incorporates wood, but isn't a woodwind instrument....!).

a piano can be put into both catgories, Technicaly its a percussion, because you hit something to make a noise, where as strings you use a siliding friction to make the noise,
