Copying to MP3

Whenever I copy album folders to my mp3 player it ends up copying things like the album art and thumbnails as well (which i assume make up the picture on the folder etc...) Does this take up more space and if so is there a way to stop it without resorting to copying each of the files one by one and having them jumbled? These are not downloaded mp3s, they're just WMAs copied from CDs.
