I know the Smiths released William with a 2nd sleeve showing Billiw Whitelaw (lilac ish in colour), and that it was released as a 12', but was it released as a 7'?

Em yes and no.....When it was originally released the 7" had a pale green cover of a boy? sitting on a bed, head in hands but when it was re-issued it then used the 12" lilac cover you mention....for more info try this link... http://tmregistry.com/passion/smiths-d07wiwrn.htm
