Can anyone remember the song words. we used to sing it in the playground in the 70's .
now screwballs a race horse and I wish he was mine, he never drank water but always drunk wine......................................I know that it had a sad ending.

another one was about a meatball!!!
part of the words were;
It rolled off the table and under a bush and now my poor meatball is nothing but mush!!

It had the same tune as the one above.

ps the meatball song was a spoof folk song, I cant remember who sang it (Pete Seeger?) but the tune was cribbed from another folk song called On Top Of Old Smokey (all covered in snow, I lost my true lover, from courting too slow, etc)
