If so, do you happen to know the name of the tune from about halfway through the show? It sounded very Deacon Blue or maybe even Prefab Sprout, but it was only the instrumental section, so I have no lyrics to give you. I'd really appreciate any help on this one.

the music for the whole series was written by Richard Spiller a rather good TV composer.

I appreciate that, but it definitely isn't a soundtrack or a score or anything. It is definitely an existing 80's tune I am looking for here, as I wasn't the only one in the room that recognised it.

Keep trying.... PLEASE!!!!
so... anyway. unsolved answers bug me.

i actually worked on the series and it really was only Mr Spillers music on it. reckon he must've subconsciously infused himself with some 80's vibes 20 years ago. and he told me he was ripping off Pavement/americana... albequrque indeed... can you remember which section it was in...

No, I can't remember whereabouts in the show it was unfortunately. I did, however, notice that they repeated the first of the 3 episodes at the weekend, so I'm hopeful I can find the second episode (which is where I remember hearing the tune in question) so I can at least refresh my memory.

I really do appreciate your time and help on this. It has been buggin me so much, and much to my disappointment, no-one from Channel 4 ever got back to me to let me know.

I'll keep you posted. Keep your eyes peeled anyway. Many thanks again.

In fact, just so you know, I have looked ahead in the tv guide, and it is on at 1.30am this coming Saturday morning. I am pretty hopeful that this is the show I am looking for. Perhaps you can record it or get a chance to watch it so we can figure this one out once and for all.

I'm still adamant that this was a hit in the charts, as it seems strange that both myself and my girlfirend recognised it so instantly.

I'll be tuning in regardless, so at least I get some idea on how to describe it, if nothing else!!
