I heard Grover Washington died recently. Is this Grover Washington Jr or perhaps his father (senior)?

Sadly no, it is Grover Washington Junior who has died, although not that recently - December 1999 to be precise. Washington was taping an American TV show segment when he collapsed and was rushed to hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival of a suspected heart attack.

Washington is best known here for the chart hit 'Just The Two Of Us', which featured Bill Withers on vocals, although to jazz fans, Washington was a prolific and highly accomplished saxophonist - a sad loss to the world of music at the age of 56.
