Can anyone recommend a London based firm who could transfer vinyl to CD please? I do not have a pc at home and would prefer a London based firm so I could personally deliver / collect without having to risk sending via the post. Many thanks in advance.

depending on what you want transferring it would be cheaper to try and find as many as possible that have already been released on cd.
or another possible would be to try and download as many as possible from various mp3 sites.
i know that having vinyl put to cd is expensive.
Unfortunately, I'll doubt that you'll find a company which provides this service. There are three reasons why most companies aren't interested in doing it:

(i) it's time consuming. (To transfer 10 hours of audio takes 10 hours. It can't reliably be be speeded up) ;

(ii) a scratch on an LP can result in a jumping or repeating track, which might go unnoticed unless the person making the recording listens the whole way through. However, the customer is bound to come back to complain and insist that the fault is with the company's record deck ;

(iii) it's illegal to copy records, even for your own use. Most companies don't want the hassle of possible legal battles.

There used to be a few firms which did provide this service but they've nearly all closed down because of the above reasons. To the best of my knowledge, the only remaining firm is based in Milton Keynes:

Agree it is very time consuming as I've copied a few of my own.
Only worth doing with stuff that isn't already availablee to download.
