i have just bought a 30gb Creative Zen Vision M mp3 player as my ipod broke! i have over 12gb of music in my itunes library. whats the best/quickest/cheapest way to convert all them AAC files to MP3 files so i can upload them onto my new zen. it would be nice also if they maintain there file name and directory structure.

thanks to any advice anyone can offer11

If they're just normal AAC (another name for mpeg4) files, then iTunes will convert them for you:

1) goto edit->preferences, and to advanced->import. Choose to import as mp3 files, not AAC.
2) highlight the files you want to convert, right-click one, and choose 'convert selection to mp3'.

thanks for that information fo3nix. The thing is i have over 3000 songs in my itunes library that need converting, when i convert them to MP3 how would i still manage to maintain the directory structure so i can copy/paste them into my creative zen library and still have them sorted by artist and have sub directories of albums? otherwise i'd have to recreate the directories/sub directories to put coverted songs into. This, potentially, could be a complete nightmare and take an eternity!!

has anybody else got advice?

thanks

Convert them all in iTunes, and you'll double your music collection in iTunes. Then where you have the column headings for 'name', 'artist', etc., right-click and a list of other menu titles will appear. Choose the title 'kind', which will show you which songs are AAC files and which are mp3. If you click that column title it'll order them for you, so you can highlight all the AAC files and delete them. Then you should just have your mp3 files left.

Now if you go into your iTunes library using My Computer, to /documents and settings/[username]/my documents/my music/itunes/itunes music, you'll see that they're all in order for you already.
