I think it's called 'The Holly and the Ivy'. I remember singing it at school.

Well done Elle. I saw this question about an hour ago and was sure I knew the answer but couldn't remember it. I was convinced that it was from a trad song that I had on tape/vinyl by Steelye Span, Albion Band, Fairport et al. Eventually it dawned on me what the song was and I found it on "Lark Rise To Candleford" by the Albion Band. I'm sure if someone asked "sing the Chorus to The Holly and The Ivy " I would have had no problem. Funny how the memory works.
