The song, Blinded by the light, by Manfred Mann, has always sounded like 'blinded by the light wrapped up like a dunna and a doofa in the night', surely this is not right, does anyone know what the words are?
as written (by Bruce Springsteen) the line is "cut loose like a deuce, another runner in the night" (deuce = as in "little deuce coupe"). as recorded by manfred mann, the first part of the line was changed to "revved up like a deuce". allegedly the word "deuce" is often mis-heard as "douche".
At last...a mystery is solved!!!! For years, whenever this song has been played on the radio I've sung along with the words "wrapped up like a douche or a doughnut in the night." Doh!
Mushroom 25 is correct - Springsteen wrote it as "deuce" as in a two seater car.
However, Manfred Mann sing "Douche" - As Springsteen himself said maybe he could have had a No. 1 with the song, if he had included a feminine hygiene product and not a car!
