ipod docking station in Audi

I just got an Audi with an ipod docking station in the glove box - it allows you to control the ipod thru the radio/cd console BUT in my naiveity i thought it would work like my normal docking sation in my house ie. when you set the ipod up to shuffle songs then dock it - it shuffles your songs - NOT SO - in the car it automatically resets and plays them in alphabetical order (unless you select a specific artist or album before docking it )- this is really annoying - anyone know why this happens and how to get round it so i can listen to my songs on shuffle???

Yes - if it's a dension connection you can enter the set up by selecting No.6 on your CD changer. It then goes through the options you can then select to not use the controls through the steering wheel/cd radio cassette and just connect the ipod and play it as usual.

Do you know the make opr is it a factory fitted Audi connection ? If it's the latter there should be some reference in your owners manual.
