Musically, whats been the worst time

In your living memory? Maybe all that New Romantic stuff or the Boy Band era of the mid 90s. For me it has to be early 90s, ridicluous 'festival' type people with floppy hats, left wing politics, Chumbawumba, The Levellers, Camden Market and Doc Marten boots with no laces.

Huh... I grew up in the mid 90's and it was great!! (festival type as opposed to they boy band type).

For me... 1980's. That decade was a traversty to music and fashion. But I know I'll be shot down for that!

late 90s when indie went out and dance music was every freaking where, early 90s for me were amazing. Just to makem you really shudder I worked in a hippy shop and painted my own docs.

its got to be the 80's nonsense, the best was the early 90's nirvana, rem, radiohead and all the brit pop

I think there's brilliant and awful music every year.

However a special mention must go to Stock Aitkin and Waterman even if I enjoyed their songs aged seven.

Mid to late 80s was truly shocking. Belinda Carlisle, Bros, ?rick Asteley et al. 18 hole navy blue doccers were my pride and joy early 90s. The Madchester scene was really something else (I recommend 24 hour party people if you've not seen it!). As for left wing... you're having a giraffe right? :oP

I agree that theres been loads of good and bad music throughout the decades. Music is obviously personal to everyone, and also depends how you're feeling on the day. I hated the song in the 90s by Doop, but have found myself annoyingly singing along to it at times!

Did you enjoy 'Let's Dance', Wardy? not his finest work, I think.

I didn't like all that madchester stuff..I did like the late 90's dance music though!

The 70's were pretty appalling..with the exception of Donny Osmond of course ;o)

Metal in the late 80s/early 90s was also dire. It went through another reincarnation of glam rock with bands such as Dogs D'Amour, Poison, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Motley Crue and Bon Jovi. Thank god for Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth.

TBH Metal has been better from 2002 to present than it has been since 1982.

Stone Roses imo were the most overated band in the world ever. Liked the Mondays.

It is all about opinion, I DJ every weekend from 10 year olds up to pensioners and the misic that gets asked for most is 70's and 80's.

If you went out into the street tomorrow and asked people under 40 to name three stones roses "hits" they couldn't and I know I couldn't. Fools Gold? Dear me lol and how many times have I been asked to play the Stone Roses?? Never.

Agreed there Wardy...but what about The Glitter Band, Slade et al? glamrock in that sense was a bit dire. Mind you I would rather listen to 'Wig Wam Bam' than Girls Aloud.

As has already been said, there are good and bad musical examples throughout every era. Manufactured 'Pop Idol' music has to be te worst. I would rather listen to 'Let's Dance' than all that.

Yes, I am aware that it was an album of great success (as was the tour) however I would put that as a commercial success rather than an actual musical success..if you catch my drift? many, many Bowie fans I know list this as his worst album ever....but what do they know?
