The song 1973 is by James Blunt and I doubt very much whether he wrote it about Life on mars :-p

it allegedly concerns a club on Ibiza called "Pacha", which opened in 1973. Mr Blunt couldn't have experienced the club at that time because he wasn't born until the following year.
