Audio over ethernet, virtual sound card
2 Answers
Hey,
I have my main desktop, and I've just built a new machine. I have the mouse and keyboard controlling both machines using Synergy, but I was hoping that I could perhaps find a piece of software which would allow me to stream audio from the new machine to the original machine, to be played out of its speakers. I'm currently using shoutcast and winamp, but it's very clunky and not very elegent... also the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired. Before someone suggests just using audio cables... not possible for various reasons.
Ideally I need something which will let me install a virtual sound card on the new machine, which will then connect to a client on the original machine, which will get a raw audio stream from the from the virtual sound card, and just play it without any fuss.
is this possible at all?
Many thanks if someone can locate software which will do this, I'm absolutely sure there must be something somewhere, but i can't find it myself after much research and googlage!
