Where did Dexy's Midnight Runners get their name from?

They got the name from Dexadrine , which is a drug and kept them awake for days , and Midnight Runners was the come down from it . I watched a program on tv and Kevin the lead in the band said this !! Whether it's true ? who knows , what ever happened to them ?

Wow...!

I was totally wrong when the subject came up at lunchtime.

I assumed the name was a reference to some obscure Northern Soul artiste (although I couldn't think of anyone with the name Dexy).
