Everywhere i go people banging on about how bad they are and everytime one immigrant commits a crime they are potrayed as a race of villans? please people have some sense ive made a little list of what i've found out about immigrants without reading the daily mail!

let me allay some fears about migrants in the u.k

FACT the economy received a 4 billion pound boost from all the workers that came over here from abroad

FACT britains age is reaching a dangerously old age (mean) wherein in 50 years there will not be enough workers to care for the old people and the amount of people on pension will collapse our society and therefore we NEED young people from other countries to diversify our population.

FACT as Britains we have one of the best passports in the world and can live in so many countries with no problem a bit hypocritical to deny other people the rights we have?


GUESS most people who bring their families on a round the world trip don't undertake it lightly and mostly do not come here to cause trouble most families want to make a living and feed their kids if anyone has a problem with that i think you have some humanitarian issues and might as well become a nazi!

if you look at the amount of people who commit crime in this country compared to the immigrants the figures don't justify the prejudice.

also dont even get me started on how our NHS is ABSOLUTELY dependant on those immigrants

hopefully thats given people some food for thought.

also (this will reveal the socialist in me) does no-one feel like we owe africa something? theres no other way to look at it we absolutely raped their land. its not like we said "Hey black people do you mind helping us with a bit of gardening over in america, wont take long honest!" we were absolutely vile and while i dont expect you to feel guilty about it, it is the reason why this country is so rich!
so if a few of them want to come over and be doctors and nurses i.m gonna let them!

I wouldn't go that far. Slavery was abolished many years ago and I don't see why we should be paying and/or apologising for that now.

However I do agree witih your OP.

no dont think we owe an apology but i think we could go out of our way to help them though for eg the mugabe situation in zimbabwe

I understand your sentiments, I really do..however you know the Mugabe situation would never be solved unless there was oil involved ;o)

Surely no-one can have a problem with immigrants coming over to this country and working and keeping within the laws of immigration. BUT - it is the ones who come over here especially because we have a benefit system. Gangs of them were filmed in France waiting to come over here, when asked why they didn't go elsewhere in Europe, they said it was 'easy' in Britain. It shouldn't be easy here, we should have the same rules as every other country and if you don't fit the criteria then you shouldn't be here. I would love to move from this country but can't because I don't fit their point system, so I don't go. You can understand why people get annoyed if they have been waiting on the housing list for many years only to be queue jumped by a family of 6 from Ethiopa.

right except there illegal immigrants which is totally different
and also when they say easy they dont mean get a council house sit around and claim benefits its just that other countries wont have them at all! so we have a more accepting stance - which i havent looked at the evidence yet but i still see no reason why we cant accept more people in this country.

apart from the housing situation which has nothing to do with a migrant worker from poland does it? thats to do with government not building enough quickly enough!

Sherman my husband is a builder. He has at least 6 years of planned work ahead of him, and for every certain amount of private housing he builds he must build a certain percentage of social housing too.

I agree that immigration needs control ~ we don't seem to have the points system which other countries have. I also agree that the general public appears to lump in illegal immigrants with bona fide folk who come here to work, live and have a valuable contribution...house building for one!

yeah and immigrants also have to join the queue a year behind british people in the system, while i agree it must be awful for someone in the queue to be beaten by someone who hasnt paid as much tax again its not their fault that they were allowed in in the first place!

I'm not stating my opinion on immigrants- either for or against. But I do get annoyed with the "well lets build more houses then"....errrr where exactly?

We're only a small island and our countryside is being gobbled up at an alarming rate. Are we only going to be happy when every square inch of it has been concreted over?

If you are talking about illegals then fair enough. However there seems to be a lot of folk on here who want to kick out every single immigrant who enters the country..legally or not.

First of all they take all our jobs, and on the other hand they are scrounging ba$tards. Can't win really, can they?

Boo, we did mess up skyscrapers in the 70's but look at hong kong, new york other countries manage with large populations it doesnt have to destroy the country.

and i also dont want an open door policy yes we are a small island and therefore numbers do have to be controlled but thats not to say we cant handle more just now.
