Hi, had this on Horslips acoustic album from 1975 "Drive The Cold Winter Away."
Cannot ever remember seeing that on CD. Nothing by Horslips in iTunes.
Did you try LimeWire as a trace? It's a long shot.
Eamon Carr, a member of Horslips is now a writer with Evening Herald newspaper in Dublin, if you wished to try and contact him directly.
Good wishes with the search. I do recommend the Waterboys version.

Hi PLively34 - iTunes has finally got all the Horslips back catalogue together. That song you were looking for has a verison by Horslips on album titled "Drive the Cold Winter Away." Have a listen to their Book of Invasions disc to get a real feel for Horslips, though. One of the great Irish bands a full decade before U2 really saw light of day.
Good luck
