help me find song or artist

Song was from spring/summer 2007- male singer, south asian/Indian instruments in the background. Music video was black and white (or parts were)- singer was black male with dreads and a hat. I don't know the name of the artist or song, or even how it goes just how beautiful the music was. Was chart topper in Canada and got a lot of play in July 2007. Listings of the hits aren't helping because the band name and song name I never knew.
