If a brass rod 1M long is struck it produces a note of a certain frequency. If the rod was 50cm long then 25cm long would the frequency be half that of before or is the change logarithmic?

BillyBB I think you have got your thinking cap on back to front. If the rod is made shorter, then the note produced gets higher - in other words, the frequency is HIGHER. It is the wavelength that gets shorter.

Thanks, you are correct. Further research showed that the change is linear for the example given. Rough calculations take me into megahertz for the lengths I'm interested in.
