What is the going rate for the sale of garden land per square metre?

It depends on a number of things, the size of the plot , the area, or if there is possible building potential.
A friend of mine has recently purchased the back of a neighbours garden where there is no building potential (approx 5m) and paid �2500 whereas someone else I know sold the garden to side of his house for �90,000 which had planning for a small 3 bed detached.
