Does anyone know how to work out a servicemans' medal entitlement from WW2? I wrote for my dads' service record but when it came back I was disappointed that it didn't show his medal entitlement. For example, someone who was in the Navy, in the Mediterranean, would be entitled to which medal? Africa Star? Atlantic Star? He was in Hanoi on 3rd Sept 1939 on HMS Falmouth. Does that mean he would get a Pacific Star? I just don't know how they work these things out. Can anyone help? Thanks?

Hiya,I assume he was RN as opposed to a merchant seaman, though both qualified, this link should help but hopefully someone will find something more detailed.

That is the job of the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency.

...and here is the MOD website on eligibility criteria (although it does not appear to offer any significantly different information to that provided by dot's link)
