God Of War 1 & 2

I WONDER IF I GET ANY COMMENTS ON THIS!
This may have been mentioned before, but I thought I might say it again,if so.
How many of you gamesters out there have had technical problems with the God of War games???
All my other PS2 games work quite well.
I've got an old PS2 console, and when I tried playing the game for the first time, the in between movie sequences skipped and stuttered an awful lot with me.So I tried moving my PS2 in the vertical position. It seems to work a lot better that way,but it still does suffer a little bit.
The first GOW game stuttered quite a bit,and froze up now and again.
When I got to the Barbarian Boss in GOW2,he drags you along the ground and then suddenly I disappear off the screen, and I can hear the galloping of the horse and sounds from Kratos. The picture freezes, and I'm pressing a variety of buttons. Then I either die or I somehow end up in the right place.
Also, when the screen mentions LOADING.... I'm waiting blooming ages for it to LOAD.I sometimes give my PS2 a little jiggle for it to work.I have used a disc cleaner, and lens cleaner. But,it still occasionally plays up a bit.
But, at least I have beaten both games in TITAN mode.
Happens with the odd DVD.Even though the DVD is brand new,it either Skips or does not read the disc at all.
I hate to part with my old PS2,as I have got a huge collection of PS1 and PS2 games.Any comments will be gratefully received! Thanks!

I will say that I bought a slimline PS2 to play Guitar Hero 1&2 and find it shudders quite a lot so not sure if this is an issue related to the slimline PS2, a mate of mine also has a slimline and experiences this one Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance.
Looks as though you've got a 60gb PS3 PETERPIPER12,as the 40gb PS3 is not quite compatible with PS2 games.
When I do get a PS3 console,I'm hoping to buy a 60gb PS3.Although, I think Sony have ceased production of the 60gb,I'm going to try and buy one second hand if I can.
I hate to part with some of my PS2 games.
One reason I want to get my hands on a PS3 this year,is because GOW3 is coming out for it.It's a pity they are not making a version for the PS2.Never mind!
I still see games being produced for the PS2,so it looks like there's still life in the old timer yet.
Thanks for your comment PETERPIPER12.
