i recently bought a self titled Ry Cooder album on CD, purely on the basis that i knew of him as a guitarist for captain beefheart , and have been really enjoying it. in the sleeve he is credited for vocals, guitars & some re-arrangements, but the songs are all written by other people. i was just wondering whether they are cover versions, or were written for him
