does anybody know the title of this song. It was sung by a oppertunity knocks contestant in the 70's and the words were "mother of mine now I have grown"? I know its not much but somebody might remeber it

It was called "Mother of Mine" and was sung by a boy soprano called Neil Reid (or possible Read). I think he may still be connected to the music industry.

Do you know if it was ever recorde by him or anyone else?
It is Reid, and I made a mistake - apparently he isn't in the industry. Also I have learned that Jimmy Osmond sang a cover version.
type his name into google and there are a couple of sites with more info.
I had it on a vinyl "Opportunity Knocks" LP. Also including the likes of Berni Flint and Millican & Nesbitt. Gawd, it was rubbish!
But yes it was recorded, and got to no.2 in 1972

Holy god and to think I would have gone through the rest of my life without ever thinking of Mother of Mine again. It was beyond appalling.
