Pickety Witch????

I seem to remember that some female singer on Top of The Pops was caught out when see tried to pass herself off as coloured?
Was this in the group Pickety Witch?
Or have I been imagining it all these years?

The group was formed by Polly Brown & Maggie Farren who, after appearing on Opportunity Knocks in 1969, became proteges of songwriters/producers Tony Macauley & John McLeod. Brown later recorded solo with Sweet Dreams, replaced by Sheila Rossall who was reported in 1980 to be suffering from an allergy to the 20th century. So perhaps because of the name Brown thats why you are getting confused.?

No you didn't imagine it, Pickety Witch charted in 1969 with Same old felling and never had much success after that, In or around 1977 Pickety Witch appeared on TOTP's and if my memory serves me right right performed the ABBA song Honey Honey, the lead vocalist (not sure if it was Polly Brown, but I think it was 90%) most definitely coloured herself to make her skin appear dark. No you definitely did not imagine it.
