I am having cruise control installed on my VW passat over the weekend, does anyone know if this can effect your speedo caliberation?
1 of my friends had cruise control fitted and it threw his speedo out by 10mph so when his speedo said 70 he was actually going 80.
I have been assured this will not happen and thi smust have been previous fault, what are your views?
Is it even possible for the speeod to be thrown out via cruise control being installed?
Thanks

Really?? Has anyone else found this when they have cruise control
this is an actual VW part and being fit by an ex vw mechanic, why would this cause a car to stall all the time?
Thanks
The cruise control is connected directly to the carbarretor, that's how thy work, or at least thats how thy used to work years ago. So if incorrectly fitted it could cause stalling but not speedo callibration problems, thats a different ball game.

Thanks for the answers, spoke to mechanic again who has said its got 2 year guarantee and he has assured me there will be no issues, also the cruise control can only be set from 20mph plus so stalling is near enough impossible
thanks
