I've just had to turn my radio off as I could no longer listen to a whiney young girl (Jo-Jo?) murdering the Foo Fighters Times Like These. This has now been filed in my brain along with All Saint's wonderful rendition of Under the Bridge! Now personally I don't think that spraying the girl with pepper spay so she knows never to do that again to be an unjust punishment. As to the All Saints, well I guess I could just steal their straightners and wonder bras.
So my question is what cover versions of songs make you cringe and see a slight red mist? And as a bonus, what punishment would you dish out to those who ruin your favourite songs?
Anything that Ronan Keating has covered really, not heard a good one yet. I'd like to say Steps "Tragedy" but I don't reckon the Bee Gees original was all that brilliant either. Having said that, I do quite like Far Corporation's version of "Stairway to Heaven", not that it's better than Zep's but it ain't bad.
'Baby I Love Your Way' by Big Mountain makes me long to hit something hard and repeatedly, but the ultimate has to be -
"With A Little Help From My Friends" by Wet Wet Wet.
For some reason, people who usually offer sane opinions on the world, seem to think that Marty Pellow's voice has 'soul'! EEEEEEKKKK!!!
I would like the wind to change when he grins his 'cheeky' (actually I know I'm quite gorgeous aren't I?) grin, so he sticksl like that, and looks like a muppet for all time.
As for the Big Mountain guy - if someone could wire a generator to his nadgers so he gets 1,000 volts every time he goes "La de dah ..." - that will do for me.
comfortably numb by the scissor sisters
and as for punishment, a bed of nails, cheesewire and very big, heavy men wearing big heavy boots should deal with it
This is one of my fave tooooons ever, you get the vibe that its just a load of blokes havin a larf in a studio rather than the over produced pap that Toploader churned out. They murdered it! Hmft!
Punishment wise, theyd be forced to eat Sainsburys econo sausages until they exploded - served up by the sell out pub chef Oliver once hed taken my foot out of his ear.
However, "You can't dance and stay uptight" so Im off for a shake about ;-)
i think girls aloud/sugar babes deserve a mention for their truely awful rendition of 'walk this way'
their punishment................. well just being themselves has got to be punishment enought - being forced to listen to their own music or a media blackout for a week that ought to slay em. ( I could take away their heels and make them wear crocs but is that going to far?)
Marilyn Manson covering Personal Jesus, Snow Patrol covering Crazy in Love (oh Gary, shame on you!) and I agree with everyone else's except I quite like Amy Winehouse's cover of Valerie :)
Ooooh and punishment wise I'd make ol' Brian go without make up for a week or two and Snow Patrol? Well I'd make Gary Lightbody spend a week with me, poor guy :)
