Converse "Chucks" Shoes

Why is it that the original style Converse baseball shoes have become so popular with punks over the past twenty years or so, especially the ankle-high ones? And this may sound like a silly question, but what sort of socks should you wear with Chucks, if you're wearing 3/4 pants, only ya wouldn't want to look daft now would you!

I would wearsocks that just appear over the tops of the trainer. I'm not punk but have two pairs of all stars (red ankle and black normal). Think the punks have picked it up from american punks. they are very 'working/average man' typeshoesover in the USA and i guess this is an image the punks wish to portray. I just this they look cool. however, don'twear them in winter as they are not warm or water proof at all.

im american and th '80s look is very punk. vintage is punk so chucks are officaily punk. but to get the real punk feel u have to get them real dirty and old and draw on the sides. we write song lyrics on the white part on the bottom but then again im not very punk
