Are you sure it was BA Robertson? (big nosed Scottish bloke with a dodgy mullet?)
He is a good songwriter (living years etc) but most of his own hits I remember were vaguely funny novelty songs Bang Bang, that one about Shakespeare, I have a dream etc.
can't remember any slow ballad!
'I Have a Dream' the Scotland 1982 world cup song with John Gordon Sinclair was I suppose a ballad!!?
I have a dream (I have a dream)
If dreams come true (if dreams come true)
Then Bonnie scotland (then bonnie scotland)
I will play for you (I'll play for you)
...nice swaying celtic melody (surely not!)
I'll give you a list of his chart entries plus the year and see if any one of them rings a bell.
1979 - 'Bang Bang' (2)
1979 - 'Knocked It Off' (8)
1980 - 'Kool in the Kaftan' (17)
1980 - 'To Be Or Not To Be' (9)
1981 - 'Hold Me' (11)
1983 - 'Time' (45)
'Hold Me' was sung with Maggie Bell, and 'Time' sung with Frida from ABBA. The B side of the last one was called 'I Am the Seeker' in which he sings solo.
Not sure on this, but here are B.A.'* **** in the UK which may help.
Bang Bang No2 1979
Knocked It Off No8 1979
Kool In The Kaftan No17 1980
To Be Or Not To Be No9 1980
Hold Me (with Maggie Bell) No11 1981 (starts off slowly then speeds up a few lines into the song. A hit for PJ Proby in 1964)
Time (with Frida from ABBA) No45 1983
He also helped out the Scottish World Cup Squad on a record, but I wouldnt think it was that. :-)
