There should be a number of sockets on the back to connect the relevant cables. Some are even wireless so you don't need to run cabling across your house. There are two distinct types depending on wether your broadband is supplied via a phone line or cable

So, assuming you have a network port on your laptop, you can just plug it into one of the available ports on the back of the router, and away y'go.
